Planning a Beach Wedding

A beach wedding can be beautiful, but the ceremony and reception does involve certain logistics. Here is a list of the basics that you should check:

Beach Wedding Checklist:

Are you allowed to have a wedding at the site? Do you need a permit and where can you get one?

How many guests are allowed?

Are electrical outlets available? If not, how can electricity be made available?

Is there a place to serve food? Is food allowed to be served? Can a tent be pitched?

Is smoking or alcohol permitted?

Are there restrooms for guests?

What are the rules for lighting fires, including bonfires, candles, torches, citronella, etc.?

What is the policy regarding onlookers and other beachgoers?

Nature:
Since you will be working so close together with nature on your wedding site, make a point of checking the following:

The time of sunset

The tide schedule

Whether there are mosquitoes or other bugs that you must fend off. What the chances of rain are. If you are getting married in the rain season, you must have backup, whether it is a tent or house.

The noise factor. Make sure that waves or seagulls will not drown out the voices of those who will speak at your wedding by giving a trial speech at the spot.

The quality of air. Dead seaweed or a fishy smell can give a pretty unpleasant odor. Check whether the beach has certain smelly periods that you should avoid. Also check whether a patrol team will clean up the beach a few hours before the ceremony.

The chill factor. Beaches can get cold during the evening. Ask the weather bureau for the average temperature of the month that your wedding takes place. If the evenings are chilly, ask guests to come prepared or have blanket throws for them.

Other things to consider:
Other factors to consider when planning your beach wedding include:

Whether you want a formal or informal wedding

Whether you want to construct a floor

Whether you want any decorating or just the natural beauty of the beach. If you do have some decorating, bear in mind that sea gusts can easily destroy decorations

The time of the ceremony

So go ahead and get planning. Beach weddings are of the most romantic parties one can have and are well worth the effort.
