Timers Trip Report
I just wanted to share a little of our trip
(re-live it) and maybe pass on some knowledge
we gained during our week to the OBX.
We were two families from central NJ. We
drove down as far as Newport News, VA and
stopped overnight. On Saturday morning we
located the last Food Lion on 168/158 before
reaching the Island and stocked up with
perishable foods. Prices were no higher
or lower than we would have had at home.
We loaded both coolers and made our south.
We crossed the bridge about 12:30 p.m. on
8/12 and there was traffic but not the heavy
traffic we thought there would be. Read

Subject: Great
Stay in Avon
Just wanted to say our family vacationed
in Avon last week and had a wonderful time.
I had checked the message board many times
for info before our trip. I found all info
both helpful and correct. We booked through
Hatteras Realty and had great service. With
kids we didn't venture far from the pool
or beach. Shopped at Food Lion and smaller
grocery retailers and found prices to be
ok. Gas prices seemed to also be average.
All in all we thought it was a beautiful
place for a family vacation. I don't wish
to offend anyone, but was wondering why
so many jobs were filled by young (I assume)
Russian people? They were always courteous
and service was great. After we got home
and reflected on our stay we were curious
if there was some sort of exchange program
during the busy season. Thanks for all the
helpful info. We are already planning a
trip next year. Read

Subject: Just
back from OBX
Just returned, we had a great time. We stayed
at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk.
It was great, they need to work on there
restaurant though, mostly staff. I enjoyed
the food, but the staff all seemed young,
and like there wasn't any supervisor around.
We enjoyed everything in the area. Stack
em high is a great breakfast place that
is always crowded, so expect to wait. We
hit traffic leaving Duck on a Thursday afternoon,
it took us an hour and a half to get from
corolla to kitty hawk.we had a great vacation,
very relaxing. Read

We were there June 3-10 and had an absolutely

pace, nice people/owners/servers/clerks/etc.,
clean air, beautiful beaches, great food..
I could go on! We will definately be back
many many times! Thanks again and also thanks
to all those HERE who've answered my million
questions. Read

Banks and I absolutely fell in love with
the area. I will be back! We stayed in Nags
Head, drove up to Duck and took the ferry
to Ocracoke. Great people, great restaurants!
We all got addicted to searching for sea
glass and couldn't walk up the beach without
looking down! Read

Subject: Trip
Report - Thanks for all the pointers.
Recap of our trip, thanks to everyone for
all the tips.
We stayed at the Cambridge Cove townhomes
in Bermuda Bay. We got a 3 bedroom, 3.5
bathroom and while space was definitely
there, I would not rent from them again,
especially if the dynamics in the group
are the same. What was not mentioned on
the particular website was that one of the
bedrooms had a bunkbed. That was a major
inconvenience to us. Steep stairs leading
to each floor did not help them, also, the
sitting area had a large picture window
but no blinds or window covering. We came
back home Sat around 4pm for a brief rest
before heading out for dinner, and had to
sit around the dining table to avoid the
strong glare of the sun coming in. Other
minor inconveniences - no garbage bags,
only a very small bar of soap provided -
we rent condos all the time wherever we
go since it is more convenient, and this
did not work out too well for us. To their
credit though, we have been offered a night
free stay for our next visit, which they
did not have to do. Read
