How do I choose between Pigman's, High Cotton, and Sooey's?

Don't; go to Bubba's

I would go with High Cotton if you are in the Kitty Hawk/KDH area (try their ribs). If you are in Corolla, try Corolla Village BBQ. It's take-out only and it is located just past the Currituck Lighthouse.

Bubba's is awful. It is dry and bland! I eat a lot of bbq and I would never stop there again.

I really like Pigman's. Duck Deli's is good, too.

We love the Pigman. You can also buy their sauce to take home with you.

I love Corolla BBQ. Great pork, good ribs, and the whole or half bbq chicken really rocks. Order early, they're small.

We just got back from OBX and we tried a few of the BBQ places. Traditionally we always loved pigmans, but we tried High Cotton and it TOTALLY blew pigmans away! It was very authentic BBQ, all meats smoked to perfection, and all sides were homemade and delicious! The restaurant itself is large and VERY clean! Even if you are staying up in the Northern Beaches it is worth the drive down to Kitty Hawk to try this BBQ!! Unfortuntely we found this restaurant at the end of our week and weren't able to go back again to try the smoked brisket...there is always next time!!
We tried Sooeys too, sorry but, DON'T bother with their pulled pork..It was tasteless and the bun totally fell apart..............

We just returned from Kill Devil Hills. We had read the postings for BBQ places to eat while we were there. We went to Pigmans and it waz HORRIBLE. The sauce tasted purely of vinegar. Four of us had different meals and none of us finished our meals. The ribs were mostly fat, hardly any meat. If High Cotton's, which was also recommended , is anything like Pigmans, we will never eat there either.

High Cotton is good. Pigman's bbq is not bad, it sounds like you didn't like the sauce. NC people do like vinegar sauce, but they also have a red tomato based sauce, you must have missed it. Pigman's was sold two years ago and is not quite the same. Never had Pigman's ribs but High Cotton's are very good.

NEVER, NEVER go to pigman's. it is dirty and the pulled pork is nothing but VINEGAR. carolina bbq is to be vinegar BASED, not pure vinegar. go to big al's and try theirs--you won't be disappointed.

Pigman's is the best. It's real Carolina BBQ.

Sooeys has much more than just pork bbq. The smoked chicken salad was really good and my boyfriend had the wings which were huge. Pretty good for a bbq joint.

Visiting OBX from Texas, tasty pulled pork BBQ is a welcome treat from my usual staple of beef BBQ. Pigman's was excellent, and we went there twice! Great sandwiches, and loved the hushpuppies on the side.

If you're coming in from Virginia or Elizabeth City via Hwy 168/158, the Currituck BBQ Company in town of Coinjock is the place to stop. Best pulled brisket I've found, and a nice selection of sauces to sauce your own! currituckbbq.com

BJ's Carolina Cafe in Jarvisburg, next to Cotton Gin, handchops their pork! It is chunky, no fat, a\with BJ's vinegar sauce.. hands down the best and worth the drive! Ask him to chop yours while you wait. They cater too
