Subject: Best family seafood restaurant??
Since it's been years since we've vacationed in OBX, we need help finding the absolute BEST seafood restaurant-nothing too "frou frou" or overpriced. Looking for the freshest seafood around!

Any suggestions?
IVY :)

Fresh seafood here is like looking for fresh meat in Kansas City. Unless you get something like crab legs or salmon it is probably fresh. We get a lot of shrimp from out of state. Stay out of the all-u-can-eat places and you will be fine.

I can say that I have eaten at many places and since georges junction buffet closed I avoid the all you can eat buffets. I would rather eat at Lone Cedar or Sugar Creek. Sugar Creek is a little lower priced than Lone Cedar and they are both owned by members of the family that also owns Owens. Owend is good but a little higher scale. Sugar Creek and Lone Cedar will provide you with fresh local seafood that is second to none. Best on the beach...

Fishermans Wharf in Wanchese
Lone Cedar on Causeway
Tale of the Whale on Causeway

Want to take it home ? Check out Captain Malcs Seafood in Wanchese, right off of the docks, it cant get any fresher than that ....

Sugar Creek hands down. We go to the Outer Banks almost every year. We've tried the expensive "buffets" and they are over rated. Sugar Creek has great food and people.

Our experience at Carolina Seafood was warm and welcoming. We were served fresh hushpuppies on the porch while we had a short wait. The food was fresh and delicious, well worth waiting for. Great bread pudding and she crab soup was the best ever. We'll be back next year!!!!
