We will be in Corolla on my son's 15th birthday. He wants to go to an all you can eat seafood buffet on his birthday. Any you would recommend?

There is no seafood buffet in Corolla. Jimmy's was there for a year or two, but is now something else. Here are the names of three seafood buffets farther down the beach. I don't go to them, so I can't comment. They appear to be tremendously popular with the tourists. Maybe someone else can tell you about food quality and waiting time etc.
Carolina Seafood, MP 6.5 Beach Road in KDH. Georges Junction, MP 11 Beach Road in NH. The Wharf Buffet, MP 11.5 Beach Road in NH. (www.thewharfobx.com)
Depending on where you're staying in Corolla, you will have a 35 to 50 minute drive each way to get to the buffets listed here. Take a patience pill before you go!

There is still a Jimmy's in the area. We also stayed in Corolla and the drive to Jimmy's was about 40 minutes I'd say. It's in Kitty Hawk...I think. It was NOTHING spectacular and I wouldn't reccommend it if you are looking for quality vs. quantity.

Best of luck and have a great trip!

Okay, maybe we won't go to a seafood buffet. I'd rather be doing something else then sitting in traffic for an hr! Any seafood places that you would recommend? Doesn't have to be a buffet?

Good call on the seafood buffet, Taylormade. Grouper's Grille in TimBuckII is quite good, but often crowded. There is a new seafood place--Striper's Cafe that opened where Jimmy's used to be in Monteray Plaza that looks good. Two places I like in Duck are Fishbones and Fishbones Sunset Grill. You'll see Sunset Grill right on the Sound as you go through Duck. Fun tropical atmosphere and good seafood. I'm sure the birthday boy would enjoy it.

seafood should not be buffeted. it should be served hot and fresh. if you like like imported, frozen for months, mediocre, long-time, no-sea seafood then go to a buffet.

We stayed in KDH in June 2003 and celebrated my son's birthday at George's Junction. It has a better atmosphere than most other buffets on the Outer Banks that we have gone to. They also take reservations. Since we had skipped lunch that day we had an early supper and missed the crowd. Our family enjoyed eating here very much.

If you are looking for quantity, a seafood buffet is ok, but I don't always find quality and good taste in a buffet. I just can't recommend any right now. I'd rather have some parmesian scallops from Goombays.

Have to agree with Dave. Went to Fishbones Sunset grill last week. Great seafood.
