Subject: Corolla area with kids ...
Besides beach and pool, what is fun to do in the Corolla area with small children - 1 1/2 and 3 yrs old?
We will be there 1st week in June.

Hmmm, not sure. Ask when you check in at your rental agent if they know of any kid specific activities around the week you are there. Too young for mini-golf, I presume.

Check out post 8758 and the responses for some ideas. If you choose the aquarium, thats maybe an hour each way depending where you are in Corolla.

humm Corolla is mostly old people I think that do the golf scene. Not much up that way besides the ocean. Pretty boring to me and I am in my 30's so we stay away from there.

37033 is only speaking for himself. We have been going to Corolla for almost 20 years and I am barely 40. We've been to Corolla as singles, early marrieds, parents of small children and now, parents of teens. And we have never golfed there.

Anyway, back to the original question. Take them to the Wildlife museum between the lighthouse and the Whalehead Club. There is also a small NC public library across the street from the lighthouse. It offers many programs, just check their website. The Wild Horse Museum near the lighthouse also offers programs and has a pet the pony day. It has a website too. Lastly, there are a few playgrounds in the area as well.

37033 only ment that there is not an abundance of things to do there besides Golf or fish. I have yet to see a 1 1/2 and 3 year tall or weight enough to ride Go carts and for mini golf, that's a joke at that age. Be honest, there is not an abundance of things to do the farther North you go until you hit VA beach.

The whole Outer Banks is just mainly making your own fun. For children that young it is just going to be playing in the sand/surf, you helping them fly kites on the beach. Maybe get a little blow up kiddie pool unless your accomidations have a pool. They would like the Aquarium on Roanoke Island. After, go into Manteo and get an icecream cone and a bite to eat at the Full Moon Cafe on Queen St. (The icecream shop is next door)www.thefullmooncafe.com www.ncaquariums.com/roanoke-island

Well with children that young they probably shouldn't be out in the sun too awfully long...So playing around on the beach in the morning hours, going in for some lunch and naps and then take them out in the later afternoon for a while. Be sure they both have sun hats and you have plenty of sun lotion too.
Get them both a bucket and shovel and stand by with your camera.

You can drive into Manteo and take them to the Aquarium. Or Kitty Hawk to the museum of Flight or even to the Dunes in Nags head. They can fly kites on the dunes as well.
