We take 95 to 64 to 158 and leave at night or very early in the morning to aviod traffic. Make sure everyone takes a potty break right before you leave. Load up on snacks and no stopping.Limit the drinks! I also give the young ones dramamine (ones a puker..lol.) Dvd players break up the boredom. We had ours rigged to our navigation system.
Fastest time 282 miles door to door 4hr. 15min. :)
Good Luck and drive safe.

I-95S to I-295 around Richmond to I-64E to Hampton, exit to I-664 (at Hampton Coliseum ["pregnant oyster] and go through the Monitor Merrimac Bridge Tunnel, and when I-664 ends you are back on I-64 and then exit at VA 168 Chesapeake Expressway. If it's your 4th time and it's a Sat, you know you want to be on the island by 10am.

Be sure to eat at the Corolla Brew Pub in the courtyard at the Food Lion Shopping Center by the movie theater. Great food, huge selection of draft and bottled beer, family friendly. Great place to eat.
