Subject: has anyone stayed at stan white before?
Just curious if this is a reputable company and if you think my family will be making a good choice staying with them. Also any advice on the best place to stay and things to do.

I think they all want too much money but we learned that this is the best year for negotiating rates. We have had several companies that we contacted offer to lower the price when we didn't book. If anyone has found a company that negotiated their rates when you booked other than there regular specials let me know. I am looking for the best deal I can find as money is tight and we still really want to come to the beach.

My family is also renting with Stan White this summer...would be curious to know if it is a reputable company. We stayed with Sun Realty and had a HORRIBLE experience. The Sun staff was difficult to deal with and the house was dirty, wouldn't recommend Sun....

We are staying with Stan this year and too would be interested to know how their cleaning service is. All we wanted last year was a clean house and to go to the beach. We got a dirty house and it rained for three days. I know the weather was out of the hands of the realtor but the cleaning...omg! The company we stayed with last year offered a 10% discount if we stayed at the same house this year. It was Seaside Vacations in Corolla. I just could not do it again. The linen on the beds had brown stains and the towels were thin as paper. I am really hoping that we made a good choice this year. Glad I didn't pick Sun since the last posting had a bad experience with cleaning there too. I just want a clean house...please can anyone tell me if we made a good choice this time?

Stan White was great last year...
Rates seem to be a bit lower (especially Nags Head) than others.

Check in was early because house was available....

As I mentioned here before the checkin girl was probably the cutest girl my son seen on the beach all week....;-)

Thanks posting 33379...so was the cleaning good? We have two crawlers and don't want them on dirty floors. If the cleaning is bad I will have to spend my first days cleaning to bring the house up to my standards. Don't want my grandchildren crawling around on nasty floors. Anyone know about the cleaning staff at stan white realty?

We've used Stan White now for 6 years and LOVE them. The staff is friendly and the house is wonderful. I would highly recommend them as a rental agency.

We just booked after asking for (and receiving) a deal that was not advertised. Try Outer Beaches Realty.

I just booked a home with an owner on vrbo and got the rental rate that is 1000 less than all the other oceanfronts in that area listed with the realty company. They have their own maint. man and cleaner and house manager so we are so pleased with the deal we got. I recommend checking out the listings by owner. Watch out for the rental companies that post to the vrbo site. They will try to send you to another property when the house you inquire about is what you really wanted. I guess some houses need rentals within their programs more than others. By going through the owner we are getting in early and we are not paying the early check in fee many are charging. Haven't stayed with Stan before so I can't say about them...sorry. Hope my recommendation helps.

We've rented through Stan White for 15 years now. Never had the same property twice and never had a bad experience. I highly recommend them.

We are also staying with Stan White this year for the first time...I'm glad to hear some good input. Used Nags Head Realty last year and had a horrible house (stains on walls, dirty floors, air conditioner that didn't work and get this bra and thong in the couch!! EWWWWWW!)

I recommend Stan White too. I have stayed with several other companies and would like to share the lowlights of our stay. Just trying to save others from the plight we endured. So for the rental companies that employ people to protect their interest dont waste your time trying to respond because each story is true and I have the complaint letters I wrote and/or emails to prove it.

In 2005 we stayed with Sun Realty in South Nags Head. The housekeeping was ok until my two yr old son found a used condom under the pyramid bunk bed where my three children were sleeping. The realtor acted like we should not have been upset that my 2 year old found this and thought it was a balloon! Shouldn't housekeeping look under the beds and make sure the house is safe for the guest. I did not know if my son had been in contact with body fluids that were HIV! After several test and follow up tests we are now confident that he did not. But consider what could have been!

2008 - We stayed with Seaside Outerbanks Vacations. When we first arrived the air condition on the top level was not cooling. It was mid-August and 100 degrees of more on the living level. We called the emergency pager and received a call back several hours later from the rudest lady we have ever encountered. She said she would have someone come out when she could get someone. Treated us like we were idiots and did not have the sense to know that the ac was not working. She actually told us it was hot outside and the ac unit probably couldnt keep up. Listen lady the ac unit will not come on. My husband checked an it was not frozen. She even accused us of turning it down so low that we had froze it up! Understanding that they have to wait for a service tech to be scheduled we were patient. BUT on the second day the AC stopped working on the second level, still 100 degrees on two of the three levels. Remember heat rises and it was the top two levels. Still no service agent. So hot half my family (being elderly) went looking for a hotel. The bottom level stayed at a warm 88 degrees because of the heat from the other two floors the bottom level was never cool. Third day a tech showed up and the unit was shot; could not get replaced without the owners approval. Now on the third day after a threat to call the owner of the company; which I was informed that I could not because they could not give me the name of the owner; we finally get two window ac units one on each level delivered from maintenance. Three days of no ac and becacuse they finally learn that we are being truthful they deliver two window units to cool about 3000 square feet of space. Fourth day our pool sprung a leak. No pool the rest of our stay. So to make a long story very short no ac and no pool to cool off in. Finally after we got home and threatened to report them to the better business bureau we are given a $ 500.00 refund. $ 500.00 when we paid over $ 8000.00. The ac was still down when we left. This was probably the worst vacation any of us had had in 30 years!

Dear lord you poor thing.33515 I would have sued Sun. Yuck I am so sorry. Seaside should have reimbursed you for your whole stay. Or better yet moved you. Those two years were horrible. Glad you haven't given up on the obx. All companies are not like that. I can assure you stan white runs his company like a business that wants repeat renters. He lives here and works in the office. If you have a problem ask for stan or his wife or son. They all run the business. Man I am so sorry for what you went through.

for sure 33515 - stuff happens but no AC for a week pretty much makes for a house that is unihabitable and you could have gone to the real estate commission and gotten a full refund!

33515 Problem.....It sounds like the people that were in the house following you were probably going to be living with the window units.

if the cleaning is bad, CALL THE RENTAL AGENCY. They'll send the Cleaner back out, and they need to know that (some) cleaners aren't doing the job that they're being paid for.

33568 - How do you go about contacting the real estate commission? I had no idea that was an option. Thanks for the info and any additional info would be greatly appreciated just as an FYI for all of us.

Stan White has always been a great agency to deal with. Their location is optimum for us - we are South Nags Head folks. Never had any problem with reservation staff. We started to request Early Check in and SW was the only agency that I found that offered it a number of years ago. No use sitting on the bridge sucking in the auto exhaust fumes, staring at the tail end of that same car for two hours.

Never had any real problem with the property that the agency did not address quickly and professionally.

Had issues with incompetent desk agents, even rude desk clerks at checkin for other rental management companies. Initials JL. Ooops did I type that out loud?

Definitely go with Stan White.

My name is Leslie Daughtry, I'm the Administrative Manager at Sun Realty and was recently made aware of the posting by 33515. I want to again apologize to 33515 and her family. We were made aware of this situation during their stay and immediately changed the way we service our homes because of it. Please keep in mind that while we agree this situation is not an any way acceptable that it did take place in 2005 and we did immediately change our performance to protect future guests from the same situation. If there is ever an issue with a home you’ve rented from Sun Realty please let your check in office know. We welcome your feedback and suggestions, we want to deal with any issues head on. If I can ever be of assistance please let me know, I can be reached at 252-441-4402 or LeslieDaughtry@SunRealtyNC.com and I am always happy to help you. I hope you’ll consider renting with Sun Realty in the future. Travel safe!

No Stan White's cleaning is not up to acceptable standards. Found a significant amount of old food on the carpet of the main living area. Sound food under beds and chairs. In the main living room, the carpets were significantly stained. They offered to clean the carpets on the 5th day of our vacation. When I had 14 people in the house.... and it was the day of my daughter's wedding rehersal! The kitchen chairs looked like someone had vomited on them. Two of the bedspreads had what looked like dried white bodily fluids on them.... use your imagination. So if you like clean, Stan White is not your company.
