the golf courses ON the obx aren't what i would call reasonable, but just 20-30 minutes over the bridge are several that are much more reasonable that the beach courses. holly ridge, the pointe, goose creek, carolina club. if you are coming in from the north you will pass them all, starting around grandy.

They all can be a bit pricey and I agree that playing the Pointe and the Carolina Clubs are very good ideas. Both are more wide open than the others.
They all give you a break if you wait until afternoon.
Village Club at Nags Head...worth it at least once if you wnat to beat your brains out. A links course with narrow fairways and a lot of waste areas. Leave you driver in the bag and bring a few extra balls.
SeaScape in Kitty Hawk...just my opinion but overpriced and they weren't very friendly on my visit.

Just spent three days on obx and played three courses (Pointe, Nags Head, and Carolina Club) 27 holes Pointe, 27 Nags Head, 18 Carolina Club. $50.00 Pointe, $50.00 Carolina Club, $65.00 Nags Head. Pointe and Carolina Club were $10.00 for additional 18 & Nags Head $20.00. Fees will of course go up shortly. Currituck was $105.00 after 11:00. People at at all courses were quite hospitable and friendly.

Correction to 33161 . Additional 9 holes was $10.00 at Pointe , Carolina Club, and $20.00 for additional 9 at Nags Head.
