Subject: Another weather question
I just checked the 10 day weather outlook for Nags Head and it lists scattered thunder storms every day next week. Does that mean our whole vacation will be rained out or will there just be spots of rain here and there?

We were on Hatteras Island in June and it said scatterd thunderstorms every day. We had BEAUTIFUL weather the whole week. One night around 10:30 we had a mild thunderstorm. That was it.

Weather forcasts are notorious for being wrong. Our recent HHI vacation forcasts would make everyone believe we had rotten weather but beautiful days all week. Don't worry - just enjoy. Forcasts change hourly.

With the high heat and humidity the news media always says a slight chance for a thunderstorm almost every evening here. You see them pop up around 3-5pm and they come and go in an hour. Kitty Hawk might have one and Nags Head won't, so don't worry about them much. Dennis might bring in some rain but it would be around thursday/friday.

We looked at a ten day forecast before we left and it said "isolated/scatter" showers every day!. In a one week period, we only had rain one afternoon for about 3 hours. Hopefully, you'll have the same results.

We were in South Nags Head the week of the fourth, hazy hot humid, scattered thunderstorms forcasted for the week. WE HAD A GREAT WEEK weather wise. Rained twice for about 10 minutes each time. I can deal with that!

we just returned from a week in Corolla with the exact same extended forecast. We had a terrific week with a few brief showers (which were welcomed breaks from the high heat). Never had a bad week there in July. June can be ugly though! Wish we were going back next week. Enjoy!

I grew up there and it looks like the responses/posts are accurate - there's always the chance of a brief afternoon thundershower but it's very unusual for it to be a total washout. I am going to back next week for a visit and can't wait - it's been 12 years since I've been back and that's hard for someone who grew up by the coast and visited often. Believe me the Gulf of MX is nothing compared to Carolina beaches!!!

We are visiting Kitty Hawk next week (6/7-6/14) and I was wondering if anyone has heard or seen what the weather will be like that week. Also, does anyone know what the current ocean temperature is?
