Subject: Corolla, Duck vs Nags Head area
Coming to the OBX for the first time this summer, from what I've read the Nags Head area is alot different from Corolla & Duck. Can someone describe both areas for me? Thanks in advance.

I stayed in S Nags Head. Loved it. Driving thru Duck was more like a residential area that happens to be by the beach. It seemed rather yuppified and family oriented. I know, big generalizations, but I'm into my dogs and they were in great company down in S. Nags Head

We have stayed in Duck every year for the past 10 years. We love it, it is VERY layed back. There is not alot to do as far as teenagers may be concerned, unless you drive. Our children have been very content with laying on the beach all day and hanging out again at night. There is mostly families in the area.

We have stayed in South Nags Head and the beach was very crowded compared to Duck.

I personally think it is a matter of personal preferences. Duck and that area are pricier, but, if you have a family or two sharing house expenses, it is not too bad

Duck is also crowded. And traffic can be bad there as well. Nags head is different in that there are more "activities" if you like put-put golf and that kind of thing. I much prefer Duck beaches.

We have stayed in Corolla three times now. Corolla and Duck are newer homes/developments and less developed than Nags Head, which has older homes for the most part. Depends what you are looking for - you will find more restaurnants and tourist attractions in Nags Head, but, the beaches are much wider up in Corolla. Add 30 mins drive to your trip for Corolla (at least - depending on when you go.)
