Subject: Best Hotel?
I am considering going to the OBX for the first time around July 7 for a week. I'd like to stay in a hotel that is on the beach, that has room service breakfast and a pool. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks for the help!

The Ramada Inn is nice; oceanfront, indoor pool and restaurant. It is in Kill Devil Hills.
The Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk is new this year; have not been in it but heard good things.

If you want to try something a little different, I suggest the First Colony Inn in Nags Head. It is right across the street from the beach...there is a pool. No room service but there is a nice breakfast each day. It is an historical landmark here.

3 best motels in my opinion:
The Sanderling Resort in Duck
Best Western Inn and Suites in Corolla.
Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk.
Don't believe the Best Western or the Hilton have room service breakfast, although it is available downstairs at both.

Thank you for your ideas. How far away are resturants to these hotels? Within walking distance? Or would I need to drive?

Each place has its own restaurant in the complex. Sanderling is expensive, but very nice.

There is no Best Western in Corolla. It's a Hampton Inn.

You're right 10113. It is a Hampton Inn and Suites. I drive past it nearly every day. Guess I've got a case of CRS. Ha.

The Hilton all the way, new, nice and beautiful. Do not stay at the Sea Ranch, used to work there and unless you want a peeper checking you out, stay away plus the pool is yuck. Creepy vibe. The Nags Head Inn is not bad and not to pricy, pool fine. The Best Western in KDH is awful. Ramada is ok, nothing great. Hampton Inn located on Pine Island going to Corolla is nice but pricy.

Tell us more about what you meant with this statement. "Do not stay at the Sea Ranch, used to work there and unless you want a peeper checking you out, stay away plus the pool is yuck."

Sounds like a good story for sure. Anything on YouTube?????

Add to my #10243. Looks like the rates double in the summer though.

I find booking online is usually cheaper. Call the motel for pricing then check online, compare. After booking online, call motel next day to make sure your reservation is confirmed. I was told by the Clairion they were booked, i went to the 'official' Clairion site & booked an OF room at a great price. I don't deal with the generic hotel reservation sites (expedia, etc), i only deal with the hotel site.

Does anyone know anything about the Clarion in KDH? I have a reservation there for June 2008 and hoping it is nice! Was reading some reviews of other places and it is downright scary trying to book a place even if it is just 1 night until we can move in our house!
