Subject: WEATHER IN APRIL

Can anyone tell me what the weather is like in OBX in April? We were thinking about spending Easter into the week after. I'm really looking to know if you can be outside on beach without freezing. I don't care about being able to swim. Just don't want to get there and be stuck indside. THANKS SO MUCH....Leslie In Pittsburgh

Jeans, jackets and sweatshirts. But bring along a pair of shorts and some short sleeved shirts. You just never know. Forget the water though. It will be freezing! If your place has a hot tub, that should be great!

We went the first week in April last year and had really nice weather. Shorts some days, jeans others. DH and I were determined to lay on the beach, so we'd try for about an hour than end up on our deck becuase the wind was blowing the sand on us (ouch!). But it was sunny enough and we were in our bathing suits! (no swimming though-- freeeezing cold water).
It's actually really nice weather becuase it's not sweltering hot and you can actually enjoy being outside. Walks on the beach in jeans and a sweatshirt are a nice change! Hope that helps!

April-May is windy season lots of windsurfing and Kiteboarding in the sound. Was there last April windsurfing it was blowing over 20kts 5 out of the 7 days we were there. I wore shorts eveyday when I wasn't in the water.

Ok-I've visited the OBX the week before Easter a few times. The weather is a complete roll of the dice. In my experiences so far, there have been 3-4 days of decent weather: some sun, temps above 60. Usually there is at least one gorgeous day with temps above 75. There have also been days with rain and howling wind, and temperatures in the upper 40's to low 50's.

Bottom line-plan for both, hope for good weather.

We've gone to obx the last two years in April, during the third week. Both times, the arrival day was cold and windy with us thinking.."why did we pick this week". The following day and the rest of the week, both years we came, turned out to be beautiful, in the 70's, sunny, warm and gorgeous. We were on the beach every day.

we usually go in April and in Sept/Oct. every year. Some days are warm and some chilly both times of the year. It is nice and all but would do both types of clothes. Especially for little ones.

It's a crapshoot, really. My Aunt lives in Manteo, so I've been there quite a bit. Some years it was upper 60s/70s and sunny. Other
years it was windy, and if it comes off the water, it dips it down into the 50s. Be prepared for anything I guess. I have always enjoyed my trips no matter what the weather.

The weather in April is pretty windy and chilly usually, but like with any area in the springtime, anything is possible. The water however is frigid.

Just before you cross the bridge to the OBX- Kilmarlic Golf Club is an awesome course. I've played there three times. Best course for the money IMO. Brian

We were in Corolla the second week of April last week. The first 4 days were windy and our last 2 full days were sunny and nice. We have teenage kids and they were in the water. We are going back again this year and when I mention the weather as an issue my friends said at least it didn't rain. We all had a great time. We just looked for places to get out of the wind.

Usually the weather , well in nags head and Kitty hawk can range from high 60s to 80s. I have been going to the outer banks for my whole life during April. I have experienced many different temperatures, but most often it is the 60s to 80s range. However no matter what every time the ocean is freezing. Have a great time.

Gone there in april one time its a hit or miss but if you really really really good time AND warm weather go there on memorial day its when everything kicks off!

Been an OBXer for 17 yrs and started going when the kids got ou for Easter break. Get yourself a fabulous ocean front house with a hot tub and poss a pool and plenty of etoh (hahahhahha). Air temps are usually 70's during the day, 50's during the night and the ocean 60 if yr lucky. Real nice off season vaca. Enjoy. : )
