Subject: ocracoke-swan quarter ferry - how long?
can anyone tell me how long the ferry ride from Ocracoke to Swan Quarter is?
I thought the Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry ride was long, but on the map it looks like a speck of dust compared to the Ocracoke-Swan Quarter ride.

I was thinking about taking that ferry then heading by Lake Mattamuskett etc and taking 264 back up and heading back to OBX via Manteo.

About 2 hours and 40 minutes its like the slow boat to china. the only thing you will save going this way is mileage on your vehicle. Considering that the Hatteras ferry is 40 minutes plus what ever wait time you have and a good hour and a half or more to whale bone junction . It’s a nice ride but time wise it isn’t any faster but scenic for sure.

I have gone to Ocracoke this way from 95 and found it id the same as driving time wise as you can do 65 most of the way and little traffic as opposed to going threw the tide water area come down .

It's better to get a reservation before getting on the Ocracoke ferry.
