Subject: Duck or Corolla? Prudential realty?
I have been vacationing in the Outer Banks with my family for nearly ten years; we always stay around Cape Hatteras but are looking for something different this year. I am and expert on everything on HI by now, but the rest of the OBX is like a different country to me. We were planning on either Duck or Corolla this year. Is one nicer than the other? Also, I was thinking about using Prudential realty, does anybody have and good or bad feedback about them?

Both have qualities. Duck feels smaller, most of homes are within walking distance of the town center and the quaint shops. Duck is also closer to the main road, resturuants and alike through KDH, KH and NH. Corolla feels more isolated (though not like HI) and the homes are typically a drive away from things. The beaches are maybe slightly less crowded in Corolla. It's a bit further to get to and a bit further to get out from. Both are very nice and you won't be disappointed in either.

Haven't heard any negatives about Prudential, Twiddy seems to have the most homes in Duck and I am not sure who has the most inventory in Corolla.

Happy hunting.

We like Corolla, not as busy as Duck. Also used resortquest.com for Thanksgiving stay and no problems. Good Luck

They have REALLY beautiful, upper- scale homes but I hear that resortquest is rather a "high-end' rental company. We've never rented with them, but I did search their vacation rental sight for homes and found the rent to be alot higher than the more common agencies we all know of. One owner who I spoke to directly, now uses them and is very happy with the way they take care of things for her. But she did say they are very strict about certain things. (occupancy, families only, pets ect.) I guess when you have a big name like Prudential behind you, you can afford to be that way. Nothng wrong with that. I would rent from them if I could afford them though. I dont think you can go wrong with them, but thats just my opinion.

We have stayed in Corolla and Corova (4x4 beach) and loved both places. It is a farther drive, but worth it. The key is leaving as early as possible on check out day. Both times we spent our days on the 4x4 beach and had no one around us for at least 1/4 mile. It was great to only have to worry about your own family in the water and no one around to bother you. You drive your vehicle right up to the beach, we brought our grill and ate up there also. I haven't stayed in Duck, it does look just as nice if not nicer, but I heard it is a little more upscale house wise and people. We are planning on going south next year to HI area and are looking for somewhere where we can also drive up onto the beach and not be overcrowded - any recommendations?

We have been vacationing for over 10 years on the Outerbanks and have stayed in almost every town. Duck, by far, is the most family-oriented and private beaches. You can walk to virtually everything and the restaurants are incredible (Blue Point, Roadside, Elizabeth's, Sunset Grille...) and the shopping is abundant - even for a small town.

www.twiddy.com definitely has the largest presence in Duck in our opinion.

We loved it so much that we bought a place in Duck.

Happy hunting!

i must tell you Prudential is a great company and the manager at corolla will bend over backwards to help you. we live here but if i could choose it would be Corolla..beaches are SO much better than Duck and you certainly feel like you are at the end of the world yet very clean and has a great new Harris Teeter grocery store...Duck has no grocery store so you have to go back to southern shores or up to corolla to shop...

Prudential is a great rental company, rented with them in October, no problems, whatsover and my opinion, Corolla has much more to offer than Duck.

We have stayed in the Currituck Club in Corolla twice now, with Village Realty, with VERY GOOD results. Well maintained homes, friendly staff - very good experience altogether.

At Currituck Club you have to take a shuttle to the beach or drive over to the oceanside and park a couple of blocks away. In Duck, if you rent oceanfront, you're at the beach. I don't agree that the Corolla beaches are so much better than Duck.
My impression as a local is that tourists staying in Duck are usually walking, jogging or biking somewhere while those in Corolla are in their cars driving somewhere.
If you want the village experience, choose a home somewhere between Sandy Ridge and Four Seasons. www.twiddy.com has lots of Duck listings and an excellent reputation. Check their maps.

OUR FAMILY JUST RENTED 6 HOUSES IN DUCK W/CAROLINA DESIGNS. WE WERE VERY HAPPY WITH THEIR MANAGEMENT. ANY PROBLEMS WERE HANDLED PROMPTLY. WE ENJOUED DUCK VERY MUCH - JUST DON'T GO NEAR SUNSET GRILLE - THE BARTENDERS ARE THIEVES - THEY STEAL THE CUSTOMER'S MONEY OFF OF THE BAR AS SOON AS YOU TURN AROUDN TO SPEAK TO THE PERSON NEXT TO YOU.

I have stayed at HI and loved the beach but hated the lack of places to eat, long drives to grocery etc. You should be prepared for alot more traffic but also alot more choices and a new experience! We havent had any problems with Prudential before, we used them last year and again this year.

Christie, I have been going to the outer banks for 15 yrs. and have stayed from South Nags head to Corolla Lighthouse area.....WE have used several realty companies and really like 2 companies....Joe Lamb Jr. and really liked Twiddy Rentals...the rates were great and the people were wonderful to work with....We also loved the area of Ocean Sands the BEST of all areas..!!..we have had deer, rabbits, red fox and bob white birds in our yard !!!!! Almost hard to believe for me as I come from the hills of WV and see this often...but never at a beach area..

Just a clarification - Prudential Resort Realty is now Resort Realty. ResortQuest is a separate and unrelated rental company. Both have offices in Corolla.
