Subject: directions

i'll be heading to manteo from the west, and thought i could just take 40 to 64, and then stay on 64 the whole way. but mapquest, google maps, and aaa are all telling me to go up through edenton and then back down on 37. which way should i go? i'll be driving at night.

noooo dont go through edenton, its the long way. stay on 64

Stay on 64 all the way. The traffic is not bad this time of year and even though it is a 2 lane it moves at 60+mph. From the west side of Raleigh it will take about 2.75 hrs.

not sure why they sent you that way just stay in 64 watch the exit at Williamston it will put you in town if you go strait there but 64 all the way most of it is 4 lane now also keep an eye open after the alligator river you will want to go around Manteo

AAA gave me the same directions but when I got out on 64 I just kept going and had no problems at all. I think that some of those internet directions have not been updated from when there was construction all along 64. 64 is a very nice road and an easy drive.
