Does anyone know of anywhere you can stay with 3 dogs? (2, 55 lb. 10 years old)(1, 10 lb. 2 years old) Would the homes that only allow 2 dogs know if you had brought a third small dog? Thanks!

As an owner that allows pets, (1 dog) I would hope that the guests are upfront with the management company about how many dogs stay. We individually place limits so as to minimize potential damage caused. Some feel that they don't want any pets and others limit it but it does depend. Be upfront, ask the owner in advance and you might be suprised that you can get an ok, especially if your dogs are older. Pets are family too.

I have seen many homes in my neighborhood that are pet friendly have more than 2 dogs. When multible families stay in one home you will get more than two dogs.

You never know when an owner will drive by your house. Being sneaky is rude. Be up front about the weight of your dogs and the rental agency/owner may allow it.

I would definitely ask.... I think many homeowners would be willing to make an exception. I would definitely ASK and not "just do". I think you will be surprised!

Good luck and let us know what happens

I think you'll enjoy your vacation much more knowing that you don't have to sneak the dogs out all week long. I'd be interested to know what you find out though, as I have a dog of my own and my parents have 2. We're concerned about taking all 3 together, but never thought to see if an exception could be made. Please keep us updated:)

Dont know how many BR's you need but try Carolina Designs # 983, CARIBBEAN GETAWAY. It's big but you can rent half the house. The pool is awesome and although not oceanfront, it's a short walk to the beach and has awesome views.

My mother has a home in Kill Devil Hills that she rents out. She allows pets (she has 2 dogs of her own). The rates are VERY reasonable. If you go onto the Stan White Realty website, search for "Sarge's Seashanty"
Or you can directly email my mother at "obxdreams@hotmail.com"

Hi - we usually rent to guests with two "well behaved" pets. If your three doggies are indeed well behaved, we'd love to hear from you. Funny - we limit number of pets, but not number of children, and I know that my children can do a lot more damage than pets!!! Check out www.obxpineisland.net and drop me a line if you are interested.

As an owner, PLEASE don't try to sneak in an extra dog!! If the rental company finds out, and they often do, they will make you leave!
Let me say here, we love dogs. We have 2 ourselves. However, we do not allow pets BECAUSE many people are allergic to them and one of those people could be coming into our rental following you.

Why would you want to break the rules that are set for a reason? This is why many people are hostile about pets in their rentals. Also, it is dishonet and a breach of the rental contract that you signed prior to your trip.

I have 3 dogs, 2 /60 lb Huskies and 1/ 75 lb doberman. I have stayed down here many times ( 6 years now)and have always told what ever agency I was dealing with and never had had any issue. I had to always get permission from the owner, but have enever been turned away or them saying "no". Just make sure your respect the owners house you stay in. Honesty never hurt anyone.
