Subject: grocery/liquor stores/farmers markets
We are staying way way out (10.8mi) on the 4x4 beach and will have to stock up on our way through Corolla - and advice as to where to go for staples/liquor and fresh items? Thanks!

you pass food lion, harris teeter, winks, a new provisons store in the new shopping center on the right. There is a farmers market at Timbuk II. You have a lot of choices.

The liquor store is at the south end of the Currituck Club, the same shopping area where Pizza Guy is located.
The new Harris-Teeter grocery store is at the Currituck Club main entrance and has great produce and a huge walk-in beer cooler.
Both are on your left as you head north on NC 12 through Corolla.
Don't forget your coolers to get your meats etc. safely up the beach.

thanks for the advice - I heard that the liquor (hard liquor) must be purchased at a "State" liquor store - is that true?

That's true. We learned this in April:) In NC you can't sell hard liquor in grocery stores...only state liquor stores.

Lots of people from Pittsburgh read this board...so where does NC's OBX liquor prices compare to ours?

I just learned also from another message on this board that the state liquor stores are closed on Sunday and different cities have different policies on serving hard liquor with a meal. Can anyone explain the policies from the different cities?
