I’m planning a 1st time family vacation to the Frisco area. We are planning on staying at a cottage on the sound front. Does anyone know if there are any nice public ocean side beaches easily accessible (parking, good beaches)?

Are the sound side beaches better for small children (smaller waves)?

Thanks for your help…

Not much beach on the sound side however just north of Buxton there is one called the Haul Over area , A nice no current little or no waves beach great for small children. You should see this area on the way to Frisco . About the same time you will notice the Hatteras Light house

Your not far from a public ocean beach it is just past Frisco on your way to Hatteras Village . It is one of the few life guarded beaches there, Plenty of parking showers and changing rooms and a walk way to the beach .

the sound side is not so nice...it almost reminds me of a lake...it doesnt give you anything near a true beach experience
