Drive over to Roanoke Island and just as you leave the bridge turn left at the stop light (away from Pirate's Cove) and go down to the NC State boat ramp/fishing pier complex located under the foot of the bridge. It's a great place for children to crab with chicken necks on strings.

Where are you staying? Some neighborhoods have private piers on the Soundside for you to use. We stay in Tuckahoe in Duck they have a nice one.

Go right outside the Whalehead Club in Corolla. People were pulling them up left and right last week.
