2 yr olds will love being on the beach for hours. Don't fix something that is not broken. No, there are no zoo's or water parks other than one in Rodanthe and a 2 yr old would like the ocean about as much.

There is a small Aquarium on Roanoke Island you toddler might enjoy, but no zoo. Take a beach umbrella and some sand toys and that will have to be enough. (Lots of sunscreen too!)You might take a kite and get that going for him/her. They would probably enjoy that. OBX is very laid back. It isn't like Virginia Beach or the like.

There are small waterparks up and down 158 usually tied in with a miniture golf course. The "big" waterpark is down on Hatteras called Waterfall Action Park.

That is a listing of all the "activites" in the area! Have fun!!

Corey, please tell us where the waterparks are up and down 158? I live here and can't seem to find them.

We just got back today from Nags Head. We have a two year old and the beach was all that he needed!!! But I do have to say if you have 4WD go up to Corolla beaches and you may see the wild horses. He loved it! Also, got movie tickets, did all you can eat buffet at Jimmy's , walked the piers and beaches to collect shells. Hope that helps.

We were in Nags Head June 10-17 with kids, 4 and 7. They loved the beach. Especially at night "crabbing". You just need a flashlight, bucket and a small net. We bought a couple colorful nets for $3.00 each. They loved it. Jockey Ridge was also great. We took the ferry to Ocracoke and also a dolphin cruise, our 4 year old loved riding the boats. Just remember to take bread to feed the seagulls if you take the ferry. Best part, again, free!

I have a 2 y/o daughter, we live here year round and all she likes to do is play in the sand. Last year I took her to the aquarium in Manteo (Roanoke Island) and it was ok but costs more than its worth (takes 5 min to walk through the whole thing...but if you're there at the right time they feed the sharks). Um...there's plenty of putt putt games out here and most of the waterpark activities are too much for a 2 yr old, as far as I can see, though I am going to try and make it to one this year haha, I have to get her used to some kind of water, she hates the ocean, she claims shes too little and the waters way big, haha. Well I hope you enjoy your vacation and remember all your 2 year old needs is a few sand toys and lots of sand and they are usually more than happy. Also you might buy some water guns...they are always fun too. Have fun and good luck.
