Subject: places to eat in Corolla or Duck
We've been to the Outer Banks several times in the last few years. The restaurants we've tried have not impressed us. We ate at Elizabeth's in Duck but thought it was very pricey for mediocre food. We've tried the Sunset Grill and thought the location was pretty but the inside atmosphere and food were disappointing. Any suggestions?

You just about explained it in a nutshell.

Try Meridian 42, in SS. I have not tried it but heard good things.

We went to Kelly's for the first time last October and really enjoyed it. We also like Owens Restaurant in Nags Head. We save Owens to celebrate our last night at the beach each time we go. For a more casual place, we like Goombay's on Beach Road. It's different. We usually go there for lunch.

Definetly go to Meridian 42 in Southern Shores, you will be blown away, but call for reservations!

Need to go to Red Sky Cafe in Duck. Meridian 42 in Southern Shores is great also.

Fishbones has a few decent offerings for casual fare but even they are inconsistent. You have to go to Nags Head area for the places listed above. Good luck

Stay away from Fishbones-Sunset Grille. The bartenders are thieves and management condones this behavior. They take your money off the bat, asusming it's their tip - while you are still sitting at the bar!!!! When we approached management about this, we were asked to leave. Imagine being asked to leave a bar because the bartender stole YOUR money!!! What a scam....this happended to at least 3 of us in a party of 50 sitting at different parts of the bar upstairs...What a waste of a beautiful view - it's nothing but a den of thieves.....

Give Herrons a shot. They are small, but the food is good. We always get take out though, so I don't know how the atmosphere is good. They always had the food ready in they time they said. Usually about 20 mins and you can call ahead.

We liked Duck Deli too (BBQ) Take out is best there too because they can get crowded. The people we rent from always suggest it.
