I would try realty companies, book now, and take the trip insurance if you're going in September!

That is a fabulous time to come down to the Outer Banks. The weather is usually still nice and warm. The ocean is not too cold. The restaurants are not as packed. The kids are back in school. There are many, many homes availabe in Duck that are six bedroom, many or most with pools, and yes, the water will still be warm enough to enjoy without a pool heater. You do not really have to book too early. There will be plenty of homes available even last minute.
