Subject: Frisco Woods Campground
Hi,

Has anyone stayed at Frisco Woods Campground? good experince? Bad?
We really would like sone trees and a bit of privacy and it looks like Frisco Woods may offer both?

I see it is on the sound side? how far to get to the ocean side?

How far to Cape Hatteras?

Any information would be appreciated.

Seems like a post was removed. It must have been from the idiot who hangs around here and posts with others names.

I have stayed at Frisco Woods many times and have never had a bad experience. I usually get a spot along the canal close to the sound end. Very friendly, helpful folks here. It is about 12 miles to Hatteras at the ferry landins(very tip of island) The beach is very close by and can be reached by Ramp 49 at Frisco(for those with 4 wheel drives) If you don't have 4x4 drive towards Hatteras and there is a very nice day use area on your right..but parking may be limited due to Isabel last fall. All in all I think you will enjoy Frisco Woods

Does anyone know if you are allowed to have campfires there. I am planning to go there in October.

Thanks

How are the size and privacy of the campsites? We are planning on going in June.

I stayed at Frisco Woods. Some of the sites are large some are very small. The hook ups are all in the wrong place on some of the sites the sewer is in the front yard, I had to buy an extension for my sewer hose. The first week I stayed there everything was OK. The cable tv was fuzzy and the electric voltage was a little on the low side. Two days into the second week I was told I would have to move to make room for a 40' motor home, it seems motor homes have priority. I was told they are harder to park and need the larger sites, Strange since I have a 40' fifth wheel. Since there is no refunds I stayed. The site I was moved to had a rusty broke down trailer next to it and several broken picnic table in it. The worst part was that the electric voltage was very low. After burning up an AC unit and an inverter last summer due to low voltage, voltage is something that I monitor. When I went to the office to speak to the manager the maintenance man told me there is nothing they could do, he refused to check the voltage him self. I was told that since it was the last site on that row and that row was full low voltage may be a problem, they plan on replacing the wiring in the next year or two that would correct the problem. The voltage was fluxuating between 100 and 110 volts with nothing running, that will fry your ac in about an hour. I was finally able to speak with a manager, I ask her if they could move me to another site she told there was no other availble sites. I ask for a refund. She became very hateful and rude. She said"you are the only a##hole who has b**ched and moaned about that site everyone else has been happy with it." I tryed to explain to her not only did I not want to have to pay for another ac I also had two dogs that stayed in the trailer when I was gone. What if the ac quit and it was 90 degrees out side. There is no way I could stay there. She refused to give me a refund. In the last five years that I have been a full timer I have never been treated so poorly or delt with such poor serve. I left and lost the $300. That is still cheaper then replacing a AC or worse having my dogs dye. I learned several lessons most importantly never stay at a campground that will not refund your money for the time that have not stayed there.

My family and I have stayed at Frisco Woods 4 or 5 times we have always had an enjoyable stay. We plan to go back next month. We have also stayed in Rodanthe which we found very pleasant. If you go places looking for falt you can probably find it anywhere.

Do you need reservations far in advance? We haven't decided where we'll spend the first 2 weeks of August after traveling since June. Can we wait until July to make a reservation?

We always stay at Sands of Time in Avon. We have camped there in a tent, the site was shaded with w&e. 2006 we up graded to a MH 50 amps. and allways have the right power voltage. The park is very clean, quiet and staff is very helpful and friendly. They go far and beyond the call of duty to make sure we enjoy our stay.
