Subject: Next year rental
Just wondering..informal poll. How many have already booked a place for next year? How many are waiting to see if they can get a better deal the closer it gets to vacation time? I am not sure what to do..last year I heard of so many wonderful deals at the last minute..so what to do, what to do?

We are waiting until Feb or March to see what kind of deal we can get. If there is a lot available then we will prob. decide to wait a little longer.

We always book the week we leave - we have found our oceanfront palace and we don't want to lose it!

Wait 'till you're packed before you reserve - maybe you're getting a cheap place that will allow you to brag how much you didn't spend, a place nobody else wants, or maybe you're getting a really nice reduction on an overpriced dump. Either way you won't get the kind of place that will make your OBX experience memorable for anything but how much you didn't spend. WOW - won't that make for a great, enjoyable vacation. Make sure to bring your feed bags to line up at the hog trough buffets.

I wouldnt wait. We havent found a place we would return to yet, but we always choose a new one because we love the OBX. 57026 is really negative, but I do think that it's imperative to reserve ahead unless you are just 2 people and arent really picky. Getting there(and planning it)is really half the fun.

Have not booked yet. Unfortunately, have to wait and see how the job situation is headed. No Job, No Vacation.

We always go in the off season, and book in Jan. or Feb. We've always gotten the house we wanted by booking early. Im not willing to wait and hope we find something suitable just to save a few bucks. I wait all year for my trip, and want it to be exactly what I dreamed of!

We're already booked, have a larger group for next year and didn't want to risk the wait.....and the house we found was affordable so we could let it slip through our fingers!!

My father in law booked our place already. Close to the beach, and with a pool and hot tub.

Our agency looks to have bumped many house up 8%......so they can then offer a 15% reduction and be happy.

We are currently looking now and there are already some great specials available. Some are willing to disscount now to insure the rental rather than waiting and hopeing for last minute. I suggest that if you see a good deal now, grab it.

We always "look" year round, to pass the time "dreaming" of next years vacation, but, we book the month before. It is really fun to get the family together and choose the home we want!We wait to go the last week in September when the rates drop and the area is not crowded.Did not get to go this year due to family situation, but will be sure to go next!

We always wait until a month or so before (usually go in Oct). We've never had any trouble finding a great place.

We reserved when we left and paid deposit last week for 2009. Slight increase but not bad. Great house and good location. We like to plan ahead and know where we're staying instead of last minute.

We'll be making our reservations this week. We gave the family until Wednesday to commit. Planning for 21 adults and 18 kids, we need 2 houses and have a couple picked out that we don't want to lose.

We missed our favorite rental by waiting one extra day!

I will never wait again. Luckily we found another home that is almost just as good( I hope). We just booked today.

Whew!! The stress is gone, now I can get planning.

Don't wait, book now!

the best homes already have 10 to 20 weeks booked. A good value must be evident. To all homeowners - quality and care usually win customers.

Gee Whizzz. Just checked the properety we rented last year. Very nice, well kept home, oceanside in NagsHead. Only week rented is week of July 4th. (maybe even blacked out by owners??)
Checked the runner-up to last year. One week rented in early Aug.

Think I'm holding out for a deal????

like 412 said the "best" homes already rented I guess yours does not fall into that category I would wait too if you liked the house that much but in my area the good homes are booked
