Subject: Taking my dog to Carova
I've heard that Carova Beach is a Good Place for dogs. Is this True?

I think you can do almost anything up there - it is almost like the last frontier.

Great place for dogs. Take a leash in case the wild horses are around or if your dog likes to follow trucks. Watch your dog carefully in the ocean. They can be overwhelmed by big surf and/or rip currents. Ingested salt water equals loose green poops!

Hey Brian, My wife & I live in Swan Beach about 3.5 miles North of the ramp accessing the 4x4 beach. We have two dogs & we don't take them to the beach during the summer unless its early morning. The popularity of the 4x4 area has grown and along with it the traffic. There was a reply made earlier to the effect "I think you can do just about anything up there - its like the last frontier" it is a great place & alot of people seek it out because it does offer the best one could look for at the beach, however there is a segment of people who really believe & do just about anything that strikes them because they believe it is a wide open & totally unrestrained area, the results are seldom good. If you & your dog want to enjoy yourself travel about 5 miles (or more) north on the beach. The crowds thin out & the traffic is more spread out. The first 3 or so miles are usually packed as a lot of day trippers come up from off the beach. Hopefully you won't need a vet during your stay but, its a good idea to check the phone book because the nearest vet is all the way back south near the bridge. Anyway hope you & your pal enjoy yourself up here.

John,
Thank you for the info. Our house is about 8 or 9 miles up the beach from what the owner has told me. I hope it is not that crowded so my dog can play and have fun..
thank you

There are many dog-friendly rental homes in the 4x4 area. Try www.twiddy.com.

My Kees love the 4WD beach -- we always rent through Karichele Realty which offers many pet-friendly ocean-front properties. We like Swan Beach and North Swan beach. BE SURE TO GIVE YOUR DOG A FRONTLINE FLEA & TICK TREATMENT before hitting the beach. Ticks are bad everywhere, so protect your 4 legged buddy! Have fun!
