All of the above have excellent food. Colington Cafe by far is your best value. Black Pelican next. Now we are talking high medium to high priced restaurants. I would like to add the Flying Fish Cafe and JK's. Somewhat expensive but worth it. You have to consider what you want. Is it Food Quality; Different Menu; Quiet/Cozy/Romantic vs. Big and Noisy; Pricing; If you say all of these then I would still opt for Colington Cafe. My Downside list includes Prime Only, Millers, Jolly Roger. My simple good list includes Rundown, Goombays, Barefoot Bernies.

Somebody asked about Prime Only. Was there last week. The prices are HIGH but the quality and portions are great. Beef dishes get a potato and vegatable of the day, Baked potato is $3 Extra. Steaks and Prime Rib run from $25 to $35. They have fish, chicken and Pasta but those are all ala carte with sides served family style for $5 to $8 each. The do have a bar menu upstairs. Here was our tab $94 two prime ribs, two appetizers, two Bass and one glass of wine. It was very good, service great, dimly lit and candles. You be the judge, but a little too expense for my taste. Next time Colington Cafe, Black Pelican or Captain Georges Buffet

By far, my FAVORITE restaurant on the OBX is Sam and Omie's. A weeks vacation would not be complete without at least one trip to eat there.
So many good memories there thru the years.

I tried the Sugar Shack for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I was craving fried scallops. I got a huge portion of delicious food at a very reasonable price. I'll be going there at least once every trip from now on.

Collington Cafe. We go twice every obx vacation and it is more than worth the drive from Corolla. Coconut shrimp is to die for. Same with the brie and the Mahi Mahi when it's on the specials menu. Bus boys are usually cute too. ;)
We were also pleasantly surprised by The Fin and Claw in Corolla. And The Tomato Patch has awesome pizza if you're in the mood.

I like just about anything except for those burrito places. They use these black, goopy beans and put onions in things that don't need onions and even when you say hold the beans, they still put in beans. Since when did eating a big foil burrito become a sign of being healthy? You can't possibly eat those things normally and you are forced to use a fork, the purple, goopy beans go everywhere. What's wrong with gettnig a sandwich, or a burger, or a salad if you are trying to watch your weight?

The name is inappropriate But Dirty Dicks Crab Shack for dinner was awesome and the Oceana Beatro was great for Breakfast. I read the ridiculous comments on the websites, and my thought was these folks are looking for a 4 star foo foo retaraurant. But come on your on vaca? If they give you good service and provided you with the food you requested good God. We received Great service and the food we ordered was great. We'll be back there on Saturday. :-)

We tried Barefoot Bernie's this trip. It was our last night of vaction and we had a great time. It was a nice casual atmosphere. Service was good. Food was enjoyed by everyone. And they make an awesome Mango Daiquiri. Price was reasonable compared to a lot of other restaurants.
