Subject: Easter vacation in OBX?
Was wondering how the weather/attractions are in Corolla in April? Obviously, no swimming in the ocean but is the temperature in the 70s yet or more like the 60s? Do any of the houses heat the outdoor pools earlier than May 1st?

Many of them do but for an extra price.

Weather then can be uncertain but for the most part warm enough to walk on the beach during mid day

Certainly NOT in the 70's!! Maybe in the 60's but it would be the lower ones, and it will be windy.

The Wright Bros were fools to come in Dec and not March if they wanted wind with higher than 40° temps like you get in Dec. But it was the slowest time for their bike business, who rides a bike in Dec in Ohio?

Ocean temps at Avalon Pier last April shows 50's° water and the air temps won't be too much higher.

We love it there for Easter - stores are open - activities for the family - hot tub and beach walking are great! More shells than you can shake a stick at.

Prices rock too!

DO IT!

SSSSHHHH! Keep this a secret!
The times I vacationed on the OBX the week before Easter (when Easter is in April) were GREAT.

70's (yes even 80 one day), mostly sunny, mild days with cool nights.
Yes, a storm can move through and drop temps to low 50's, but that has happened to us only once.

The ocean water is cold, so any breeze off the ocean is too. But the prices for rentals/rooms are great, and most stores and restaurants are open.

But don't tell anyone. Let's keep this our secret!

Rob - where did you stay in the OBX in April? We are thinking of going to Corolla but the uncertainty of the weather has us a little worried.

On different trips, I've stayed in Kill Devil Hills and Rodanthe. Good luck with the weather both times.

One more thought-I was planning a trip for Easter 2006, but an opportunity has arisen that will allow me to take my family with me to Disneyworld on my business trip that week.

But if this trip wasn't happening, I'd be on the Outer Banks the week before Easter.

We have been in the Northern Banks for Easter at the end of March as well as in April and have found the weather can go either way. The first time we were there for Easter late March, it was 83 at 10:00 am on the beach. We have been there at Easter in April when it was 45/50 rainy one day, almost 70 and sunny the next. Bottom line: No matter what, that ocean is wonderful!

The weather during easter is usually nice. I would say temps in the low 60s. We have houses that have pool heaters that we generally open in the beginning of April. Please visit our website if you are interested.
