Subject: Toddlers in Nags Head
I'm bringing my 2-1/2 year old twins (boy and girl) to Nags Head for the first time this summer. I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with bringing toddlers to OBX, and if you had any suggestions of activities I can plan for them?

Thanks!!
Darren

Been going for over 20 years, my son started when he was just over a year old...

It is amazing how they can amuse themselves while on the beach! My nephew had a blast just at the waters edge running toward and away from the waves as they were coming and going.

Just make sure you do the sun screen thing often! Not a bad idea to keep them in t-shirts as well.

I don't think you have to "plan" much, let them enjoy the beach. They don't have that at home!

Hope you have great weather and an enjoyable time!

take them to the beach. that's what it's there for. shovels, pails, and sand. Not much entertaining to be had at two years of age. what would you do at any other beach?

One thing I did when my son was smaller and I have seen other people do it is to bring or purchase a small blow up pool. It can be a little nerve-wracking constantly watching after two year old twins at the waters edge. We would bring it down to the beach and fill it up with buckets of sea water. After runnung away from the waves enough times they welcomed playing in the pool. Not only does it keep them occupied it attracts new friends!

Get a schedule provided at Jockeys Ridge ranger station. They have events planned for all age groups everyday.

I used to take my kids to the NC Aquarium in Manteo. It's a hands on experience they will enjoy, and it will give them a break from all the sun at the beach. It's not too far of a drive and I found it to be a good thing to do mid-week. My four are now just about grown, but I have a four year old(I will be there in two weeks).
Good luck!

I live in the Outer Banks, My daughter is a toddler and there is alot to do. There is a great park on the road next to the Wright Bro's mem. It's about MP 8.5, it's behind the Outer Banks Brew Station. The Aquarium is a great place to go, but it's REALLY small. We don't take our daughter there in the Summer because she can't do her own thing. People are everywhere and no one lets her see anything. Also there is a Mag. called the Outer Banks Kid. You can get the mag. at Major Party and Kmart for sure, they have ALOT of things in there everyday all over the beach for kids to do.
