Subject: Frisco beach
Can anyone tell me how the beach area in Frisco compares to the the beach area in Avon. Is it shallower and calmer?

Yes, it's somewhat clamer sue to the fact that it is a southeast facing beach rather than a direct east facing beach. Depending on the area you won't have that double dune line to cross like you do in Avon. Are you staying in Frisco? Which area?

Actually, Frisco pier area is where some kids like to surf when the surf is good. I don't know about Avon and surfing but the surfers told us: Frisco, Buxton Beach, the new walkover south of Buxton. If the surfers like it, it's usually big waves.

yes I plan on going the end of Sept. I wasn't sure how the beach area was will have grandchildren 9 years old. We like to look for shells and play along the edge. Didn't ask if it was calm and shallow like a pool I asked if it was calmer but I thank the people that were being helpful

Playing in the surf is the right idea. I never let my kids go in the ocean. We swim in the pool. You most likely won't find shells though. Just broken pieces.

If you can go out at Ramp 49 (near the Billy Mitchell Airport) the beach there (in the area we surf fishermen call the hook) is actually pretty shallow for a long way out and is very calm unless there is some sort of weather event. You need a four wheel drive or you can park near the ramp/airport and walk but it's a pretty long walk.

We were there 2 weeks near ramp 49 and had fairly heavy surf and very strong currents along shore most of the 3 days we were there.

The surf simply will depend on the direction and strength of the wind. We swam there last week and loved the rough surf made by SW winds - while north of the lighthouse at Buxton the surf was calm and glassy. Had the wind been easterly the opposite would have been true.
