Subject: Kids Eat Free
Are there any local restaurants that let kids eat free? We are planning our visit for the 2nd week and May and would like any and all advice. We usually go to Mrytle Beach. This will be our 1st visit to the OBX.

Not that I know of. The Outer Banks is not like Myrtle Beach. Most restaurants are Family Friendly and have childrens menu.

First let me comment that your location will affect restaurants, type, quantity and prices. Other than KH, KDH and NH you will not find many fast food places. Restaurants here get all the business they want in season and don't really offer "Come Ons" Coupons in the Tourist magazines are are not worth much. You may find a few Early Bird places. We also do not have inexpensive Buffets that other areas have either. We do have French Fry Alley, all the Fast Food places.

If you just eat out one night...and cook all the others, it would be a lot more affordable for you. We usually do lunch out or breakfast as they can be cheaper than dinner, especially if you have kids that eat grownup food. I say that because I still have two chicken finger-only people and the other likes to EAT!

Going to the Outer Banks is NOT like going to Myrtle Beach. It is a completely different atmosphere. OBX is more about just chilling out and spending time with your family, not going out somewhere commercial every day.

229 - still a nice break for the cook to go out once or twice.
Captain George's Buffet, KDH offers half-price buffet for ages 5-12, kids under 4 eat free.

there are some discount coupons in the sunny day guide.
also, you can order a "getaway" card with discounts attached to it at some places (valid January 1, 2010 to May 15, 2010)

Is there any way to get a sunny day guide before you actually go to the OBX?

Sunny Day Guide is on line. The new issue (2010) doesn't come out until late May.
