Small but quaint. You can be right on the shore for quite a value. Almost all of them are rebuilt due to a hurricane a few years ago, so they are pretty new.

It is worth it if you don't require a lot of space.

We've been considering them also for just two uf us next summer. They seem kind of close together, and no outside shower, but they would be plenty of space for just 2 people who spend most of the time out on the beach anyway. Would love to hear comments from those who have actually stayed there.

I'd love to hear more about them myself. It's just the two of us also, so we usually don't rent a house. The cabana's are really cute.

go to www.obxcabanas.com and www.oceancabanas.com -- rent by owner -- lots more perks and low rates

One of the most romantic spots on the island to stay for two people. Ahh, if I could just hear those cabana walls speak of what they see in a season, it would be the next best selling romance novel on the book market. A fine choice for two!

Sounds like there is some "yabba dabba doo" going on inside those love castles on stilts. I'm making my reservation now...for some "yabba dabba doo".

The best hookup for cannabis on Hatteras Island is at the little gas station just beyond the fisherman's wharf in Salvo. Speak to "Tony", he always wears a green top. Can't miss him. The PRIMO BUD!

oh oh wait....cabanas....yeah, what the others said.

They are very cute and near the ocean, but for the price, not worth the money. You can rent a regular size one or two bedroom condo for that. But then, maybe some people like the small quarters. Me? I like more than one room when on vacation.

645, what do you mean not worth the money? Where else can you get a free standing house with 3 decks oceanfront for under $700 in peak season? We stayed there in Sept. for under $500 and it was fantastic. As far as one room on vacation, I go to the beach on vacation because I enjoy the beach.

There is an outside shower on the private beach access as well as hoses at each cabana. Rental Agency is fantastic and views from the decks are also fantastic. We will be staying there again (hopefully soon).

671; just what I said, not worth the money. Maybe YOUR money, but not mine. We rent oceanfront in Sept for less than 700.00, and get an entire house, with 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths with direct access. Just because it suits your needs doesnt mean everyone else will like cooking, eating, sleeping and basically doing everything but taking a shower in a single room.

I agree with both 645 and 671. They are affordable, clean and very cute. But my husband and I stayed in one in 2007, and found it way to confining, even for two people. I couldnt turn around without bumping in to him or some piece of furniture. Guess after 23 years of marriage we dont need to be that close lol.
