Subject: "Real" Radio in Ocracoke
My daughter forwarded me a CNN clip about Ocracoke getting a real radio station. They currently only get weak signals from mainland stations, which are so far away and have little interest in serving the island.

The biggest benefit of this is giving live info during storms when power and cable are out. Of course when they showed the station's location on Silver Lake, it make you wonder how long it might last in a real storm!

Go to the Island Free Press. They did a very complete story on the new and upcoming station which should be up and running come spring of 2010, but you know how things go down there, always much slower than expectation deadlines.

WOBX is already a station in Manteo, 98.1 FM and 1530 AM in Wanchese.

That's pretty cool Ocracoke getting its own station, I normally listen to Sirius Satellite radio, but i can surly take a break and hear what the local news has to say.
